Justin Morneau had a breakout season in 2006 becoming the first Minnesota Twin to hit 30 homeruns in a single season. Justin finished the season hitting .321 with a slugging percentage of .559 (6th in AL) with 34 home runs and 131 RBI (2nd in the AL, most hit by a Canadian in MLB). He won the 2006 Silver Slugger Award for his defensive play at first base and also won the American League MVP award. He became only the fourth player in Twins history to win the honor. Morneau is also the first Canadian player to do so, and second Canadian to win a major league MVP award (Larry Walker being the first by winning the NL MVP Award in 1997).
