Item Description
This is an autographed Metrodome Final Season Baseball of 3x batting champion and 2009 AL MVP Joe Mauer. Mauer has inscribed this Special Edition Rawlings baseball with, "2001 1st Overall Draft Pick". This is the Official Rawlings baseball that was used by the Twins at the Metrodome during its final season. A Minnesota native, Joe Mauer was drafted by the Minnesota Twins with the first overall pick in the 2001 MLB draft. Since taking over starting catching duties for the Twins, Joe has led his team to American League Central division titles in 04, 06, and 09. In 2006, Mauer became the first catcher in American League history to lead the majors in batting average, finishing the year batting .347. Mauer has since solidified his status as the premier catcher of the American League, appearing in three All-Star games and winning three silver slugger awards. Mauer has also been recognized for his defensive superiority, winning gold gloves in 2008 and 2009. Mauer's greatest achievement came in 2009, when he earned American League Most Valuable Player honors batting .365 with 28 home 96 runs batted in.
